Over 70 million small businesses use Facebook to connect with customers all over the world and 75% of SMBs that advertise on Facebook believe Facebook is a growth driver for their business. Facebook's impact on small businesses is one of the clearest proof points of how the platform is good for the world but it was a story the company hadn't widely communicated.
Keep it local
Anchored on the insight that local businesses build the unique character of our communities, we identified three distinctive themes that create the culture of a city and highlighted the businesses that brought those themes to life. All while reminding people to support local businesses to keep the unique spirit of their city alive.

Standing out with experiential
In Columbus we built floats for small businesses and held a shoppable parade.
In Nashville, we held a concert, where businesses owners were the performing artists.
In San Diego, we held Pawmaste, a yoga retreat for dogs.
And In Sacramento, the City of Trees, we build a tree house for The Tree City Market.
Between Nashville, Columbus, San Diego, and Sacramento, our “Keep it Local” activations generated over 3.5 million impressions, 23 local news segments, and 1,258 social mentions.
Boost With Facebook Events: In San Diego and Columbus, we also conducted in person training events for small business owners. Entrepreneurs could learn everything from starting a Facebook page for their business to using their mobile phone to create ads and using the pixel to increase conversions.
